JEE Advanced 2021: What EduMin Will Say On January 7 And What Students Want

As many as 12 to 13 lakh students appear for JEE Main examinations and about 16 lakh appear for NEET examinations. Thus, the dates for JEE Main 2021 and NEET 2021 hold an important discussion. Based on the trends we have seen, students have been pushing for May-June postponement. The major concern here is the lack of classroom teaching this academic year. They have also said that they at least need 2 months of classroom teaching to give the exams.

Thus, in favour of students here is a list of timetables that we know so far:

JEE Main

JEE Main 2021 will happen in multiple Sessions (February/March/April/May 2021) for admissions in the next academic session. The first exam will be held from February 23 to 26. The last date to apply for the same is January 16. Further, keeping in mind the fact the reduced CBSE syllabus, NTA has decided to offer choices to the students. Out of the total 90 questions, students will have to attempt 75 questions.

Further, in the latest notice from NTA, only BE and BTech attempters can apply for four attempts. The other two papers BArch and BPlanning will continue to happen in two attempts as usual.

CBSE 2021

The Board examinations for Class X and XII will commence from 4th May 2021 (Tuesday). Schools can conduct Practical/ Project /Internal Assessment of Class XII from 1st March 2021 (Monday) to the last date of conduct of theory examination of the same class. Similarly, schools can also conduct the Practical/ Project /Internal Assessment of Class X from 1st March 2021 (Monday) to the last date of conduct of theory examination of the same class.

In his live webinar, without pointing fingers, EduMin stated that he does not understand who are inciting protests. But parents and students want NEET 2021 to happen. As these exams decide the future of students and, even the country, NTA is not looking to postpone NEET 2021. In fact, EduMin is trying to give out the dates as early as possible to mentally prepare the students to give the exams.

In the latest advancement, according to Hindustan Times, NTA has written to Health Ministry to hold NEET 2021 twice a year. The notification for NEET 2021 is expected to be released soon at ntaneet.ac.in. Though the NEET 2021 exam date has not been released yet, the exam is always conducted on the first Sunday of May. So, the tentative date for NEET 2021 is May 2.

JEE Advanced

The voices to provide a third attempt to JEE Advanced students has turned from 100s to 1000s and Mr Pokhriyal did not talk about it in his webinar. Thus, the schedule is unclear. But, students must know that JEE Advanced 2021 will be open for 3rd attempt only for students who couldn’t appear for the exams. IIT-JAB announced on October 13, 2020, that students who qualified JEE mains 2020 and had been affected by COVID-19, this year shall be allowed to appear for JEE Advanced directly, without qualifying the JEE Mains 2021 examination.
