Jataayu launches WAP 2.0 jBrowser for PocketPC devices

BANGALORE: Jataayu Software has announced the release of its WAP (Wireless

Application Protocol) 2.0 complaint jBrowser (Ver 3.0), for PocketPC devices.

The software contains executables of WAP 2.0 compatible browser for ARM and SH3

processor based PocketPC devices, along with user documentation. The evaluation

copy of beta version software is available at www.jataayusoft.com for download

for a limited period of time.

WAP Forum, an international forum on Wireless Technologies, announced WAP 2.0

specifications in August 2001. Jataayu achieved the distinction of being the

first company in the world to have WAP 2.0 based gateway and browsers in October

2001.

"WAP 2.0 is a significant improvement over its predecessor WAP 1.2, and

is expected to firmly establish the mobile Internet industry created by the WAP

1.x specification. Jataayu, as one of the early adopters of WAP2, now leads the

way by providing the browser needed by the wireless developer community on

popular PocketPC devices, to start delivering innovative applications and

services based on WAP2." says Mahesh Jain, CEO of Jataayu Software.

Director and advisor Dr. Gopalakrishna, said that the launch of the Jataayu

WAP2.0 browsers would let developers deploy their WAP2.0 application on popular

PDAs, without having to wait for WAP 2 phone devices.

Jataayu Software director marketing, Raj Kesarimall, says that the release of

Jataayu WAP2.0 Browser of popular PocketPC devices will help Jataayu to maintain

its position of leadership in this area. He also said Jataayu is currently

targeting leading operators to roll out WAP2.0 services. WAP2.0 will

significantly enhance the appeal of WAP and provide the platform for delivering

Wireless Internet applications.
