Headquartered in Tokyo, JAL has more than 31,000 employees globally, and the airline operates major hubs in Tokyo, Haneda and Narita, servicing almost 280 airports across 45 countries and regions.

JAL has implemented PROS O&D, which helps optimize its revenue through data-driven forecasting techniques and network optimization, as per the announcement. With PROS O&D, JAL has replaced its previously separate domestic and international revenue management solutions, and consolidated them into a single solution, providing proactive visibility into its overall network revenue and ensuring execution of its business strategies.

PROS O&D, as explained ahead, uses data science to manage market demand challenges; capture emerging trends at varying levels of significance by region, market, flight and date; and differentiate price and availability for passengers, which allows JAL to make pricing decisions for its business.

"As we explored how to maximize our domestic and international integrated network revenue, we recognized PROS as the best partner, providing us with its O&D network solution for revenue optimization," said Akira Yonezawa, Executive Officer, Managing Division, International Route Marketing, at Japan Airlines. “We knew this solution would ensure we provide our customers with flight options that meet their individual needs.”

"For years, Japan Airlines has had two different revenue management solutions for domestic and international markets,” said Tadao Nishio, Executive Officer, Managing Division, Domestic Route Marketing, at Japan Airlines. “We decided to integrate our RM platform into one, fusing our competitive domestic and international platforms to maximize network-level revenue. PROS O&D will enable us to achieve our strategic goal."

Japan Airlines (JAL) as underlined, was founded in 1951, became the first international airline in Japan, is flying more than 120 domestic routes including code-sharing and was awarded the most punctual major international airline in 2009, 2010, 2012 and 2013.
