KOLKATA, INDIA: IT Association of Orissa (ITAO) is heading for its annual elections this month. The association has been busy sharing the profits from the expo held last year. Sources in ITAO suggested that the association will be holding its elections only after the dues pending from the expo are cleared.

Additionally, the association wants the next Executive Committee (EC) to tackle fresh issues rather take up old issues that have been circling the market for a while.

“The elections for this year have been delayed primarily because of the ongoing process of collecting and distributing the revenues from our last expo. Payment issues are also prevalent in the market. We are trying to solve these issues in the first place so that the next EC will have more time to take care of other issues,” said Dayanand Ratho, Secretary, ITAO.

Although the association is in its initial stages of planning the elections, it has already chalked out the procedure. Firstly, interested candidates will have to fill the nomination forms and submit them within 15 days. Then, ITAO members would be judging the suitability of each candidate. It is only after that that actual polling will commence whereby the portfolio will be allocated in accordance to the results of the voting.

“As usual, this time too, we will be focusing on bringing in new faces to the EC and hope to incorporate at least four new members. The EC provides a training ground for the fresher aspiring to hold a portfolio and learn the terms of the trade,” Ratho said.

“For the next 10 days we’ll be finalizing the dates and will be clearing at least 90 percent of the pending dues in the market. Also, within this period, we will be settling our claims over the profit share from the expo and then move ahead with the paper work,” Ratho added.

Sources in ITAO said that the election may commence anytime between the end of June and mid-July.
