IT professionals start networking services venture

Five senior IT professionals on Tuesday announced that they have come together to form a new company named Bangalore Labs Ltd., which will provide technology-based networking services and training to corporates globally.



Headed by former Lucent Technology SAARC region head V. Natarajan, Bangalore Labs will be engaged in networking services, software development and training and certification. Networking services will involve both on site, including design and audit, implementation and maintenance, and off site remote management. The software development will focus on networking services and will cater to the demands in virtual private network. It plans to develop an email and voice mail integration product.



The new company will soon open its facility in the International Technology Park, Bangalore, and will have alliances with global players in the networking industry. According to Bangalore Labs director sales and marketing T.G. Ramesh, the company will open offices in the US, Europe and Asia Pacific regions.



Bangalore Labs sees 80 per cent of its revenue in the services business coming from exports. Mr Natarajan announced that the company was in talks with a few venture capitalists and a final decision was expected during the course of next few days. He said a total of $4-8 million was expected to be raised through the venture capital mode.



Mr Natarajan said that Bangalore Labs would touch annual revenues of $30 million by the end of three years. "At the end of first year, we expect to have a total employee strenght of 110, which will increase to about 500 in the next two years," he added. The company will initially target medium sized companies in the US market for its services business, moving ahead later to tap the bigger organisations.



Besides Mr Natarajan and Mr Ramesh, the other promoters-cum-directors in the new company are former business development manager FedEx International Shriram Ramdas, former business manager, Internet/telecom division SAARC region, Nortel Networks Joy Nandi and Umesh Malhotra, former business manager, Infosys Technologies. While Mr Ramdas will head the operations, Mr Nandi and Mr Malhotra will be responsible for technical and development, respectively.
