IT ministry paints a rosy KPO picture

NEW DELHI: India has the potential to emerge as the next biggest KPO destination in the world, a special report of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology has said.

Though the KPO sector is still at a nascent stage of development, skilled and cost-effective manpower with multilingual capabilities can fuel its growth to become the favoured KPO destination globally.

The report, however, cautioned that countries such as Hungary, Belgium, the Czech Republic and the Philippines are likely to successfully challenge India in the cost-effective front.

Despite this word of caution, the report painted a rosy picture as the Indian IT and ITES firms are well established, so that the transition from BPO to KPO, the highest level of BPO.

India has a large pool of skilled manpower like chartered accountants, doctors, MBAs, lawyers and research analysts, who could add value to the KPO business.

Further, the reverse brain drain will also contribute to the growth of the Indian KPO sector.
