NuoDB commissioned the survey to gain insight into the evolving database management system (DBMS) market. IT executives were polled to understand their top DBMS concerns and evaluation criteria.

Geo-distribution is a significant future concern

Overwhelmingly, IT executives said their greatest need, both now and increasingly in the future, is the ability to deploy applications globally while maintaining the same level of performance and resilience they achieve locally.

"We're committed to independent research into the DBMS market to ensure that the NuoDB product continues to exceed the needs of IT organizations," said Dr. Michael Waclawiczek, VP of NuoDB Marketing and Operations.

"We hope that this IDG research will be valuable to other IT executives who are investigating highly-scalable transactional database management technologies for datacenter, cloud, and geo-distributed deployment," added Waclawiczek.
