MUMBAI, INDIA: The terrorists are at it again!!!
Terrorist outfit Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) has allegedly issued a threat to life email to none other than the RBI Governor, Raghuram Rajan about three weeks back.
Rajan allegedly received a ransom threat on his official email account from an ID isis583847@gmail.com. However, no amount was mentioned in the mail. A request to the concerned sever has been sent, police said.
The email ID was accessed from USA, Canada, Australia, Belgium, Italy, Nigeria, Germany, Ukraine and Hong Kong.
While the cyber crime investigation cell (CCIC) of the Mumbai police is probing the source of the email, the Anti Terrorist Squad alongwith the Mumbai Crime Branch are investigating the terrorism angle to the case.
Mumbai police commissioner Rakesh Maria told the Times of India that the ID names the word ISIS and therefore, the investigating team is tracing the IP address of the sender.
"We received an application about the email three weeks ago. We are looking into it," Maria told ToI.
