ISA to release report on Solar PV industry

BANGALORE,INDIA: The India Semiconductor Association (ISA), the trade body representing the Indian semiconductor driven industry, today announced that it would launch the ‘ISA- NMCC report on the Solar PV industry: Global and India scenario, 2008’.

The study was backed by National Manufacturing Competitiveness Council (NMCC) and Government of India, said a press release.

It stated that the study was carried out in partnership with PricewaterhouseCoopers.

The statement mentioned that the report would be released at the first annual ‘Solar PV Conclave 2008’ meeting to be held on September 29, 2008 at the SCOPE Convention Center, Lodhi Road, New Delhi.

The Conclave 2008 would include sessions on topics like policy framework, financing, market applications, roadmaps and innovation related to the industry. Padma Vibhushan Dr Krishnamurthy, chairman, NMCC is expected to inaugurate the conclave.

Senior Government of India officials including Govindarajan, Member Secretary, NMCC and Deepak Gupta, Secretary, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) would be among key speakers at the Conclave.

“ISA has strategic aspirations to map the value chain for Solar PV in the country. Our members in the chip design, EDA and Solar PV space are demanding increased activity in this area. India has the opportunity to being a forerunner in this field,” said Poornima Shenoy, president, ISA.

She added that the support and guidance of NMCC has provided ISA with the opportunity to present the first credible data on the Indian Solar PV market.

Key industry players like Applied Materials, Moser Baer, BEL, and Solar Signet have provided invaluable inputs.
