iPhone 5 may be launched in India on October 26

BANGALORE, INDIA: Apple Fanboys in India have some good news at last. A report suggests that iPhone 5 will be available in Indian market by the end of this month.

According to a report on BGR India, ''Apple is preparing to launch the iPhone 5 in India on the last Friday of this month, which happens to be October 26. They had earlier also reported that ''Apple will be distributing the iPhone 5 in India on its own rather than relying on its carrier partners''.

''We expect the iPhone 5 to have a wider availability unlike the past where it was not available readily everywhere,'' adds the report.

Reliance iStore had earlier told CIOL that iPhone 5 can be expected in stores between the last week of October and the first week of November 2012. "Apple's estimated cost of 16 GB iPhone 5 is Rs. 48,000," they said. One of the grey market operators had quoted a price Rs. 50,000.

Some of the features of the iPhone 5 4-inch retina display, the phone is taller and thinner than its predecessor, has 4G LTE, and has all the software that iPhone 4S does. The screen resolution is 1136X640 and has an aspect ratio of 16:9.

 

The primary camera is 8MP, has panorama feature and a sapphire crystal to protect the lens. The smartphone has a faster A6 chipset. The iPhone 5 weighs about 112 grams.

iPhone 5 will run on Apple's new operating software iOS6 and the audio system of the smartphone has three microphones.
