BANGALORE: US based Intransa, which specializes in IP-SAN solutions, has announced that it would be expanding its business operations in India after seeing a lot of market traction for its IP based storage solutions. "We have seen 100 percent growth since last year and we want to expand our presence in the region," said the company's VP of global operations Udi Paret.

To meet this objective, the company has made some changes at the corporate level by appointing Vaidyanathan R Iyer, the former country manager of Apara Enterprise Solutions, India, as the head of its operations in India. Intransa's B Chandrasekar, who previously handled Intransa's Indian operations, has now been promoted to director of international marketing with special focus on the APAC region.

Chandrasekar said that the company would be expanding its presence in Chennai and Hyderabad. He added that Indian companies, which are traditionally inclined towards DAS storage, are feeling the pinch of rising cost and are seriously looking at disaster recovery solutions. "IP SANs have finally arrived and now we have many other storage vendors which have had to kill their fiber channel product lines because of the IP SAN advantage," he further informed.

According to Chandrasekar, compliance regulations like Sarbanes- Oxley and data protection requirements were forcing many Indian companies to go for the modular suite of IP-SAN solutions. "Our IP SAN solutions can reduce the TCO by leveraging on the existing Ethernet and IP network infrastructure that already exists in companies," he said. He also added that customers could scale up performance and capacity by adding a new disk controller or enclosure.

Iyer said that the company would pursue opportunities in growth segments like SMB, education and government. Intransa currently has a 50-member development facility in Pune that handles software engineering and technical support for the company's global customers.
