BANGALORE, INDIA: Despite Nokia's bid to keep up with its promise to release its tablet MeeGo around the end of 2010, Intel is anticipating a delay and expects it to come up only by 2011 first.

In a Forbes article, Doug Fisher, vice president of Intel's Software and Solutions Group, mentioned, “MeeGo phones and tablets are in the works, but consumers will have to wait until next year to see and purchase them. Fisher said handsets will debut in the first half of 2011, perhaps at one of the tech industry’s large trade shows.”

If the market speculations are to be believed, this delay by six months could be a matter of concern for both Intel and Nokia, as rival companies like HP would be ready with their versions, adding to the competition.

MeeGo is a collaboration between Intel and Nokia. It is an open source, Linux project which brings together the Moblin project, headed up by Intel, and Maemo, by Nokia, into a single open source activity.
