BANGALORE: Building products that people want to buy will bring business to
us - is the key factor that would help companies to keep moving ahead during the
recession, was the statement made by Dan Russell, vice president, Intel
Architecture Group, Intel Corporation. He was presenting the keynote address at
the Intel Developer Forum being held in Bangalore.
Russell's focus was on "Moving beyond Ghz", the technologies Intel has
to offer and the future technology directions. "We at Intel look at
expanding our product and technology development focus beyond processor speeds
so as to enable greater productivity and better experience for the users,"
said Russell.
One of the key points of Russell's presentation was the company's optimism about
the future of ebusiness. The growing opportunities in the connected world was
highlighted. The number of companies adopting the ebusiness module is expected
to be growing and in the next five to 10 years it is believed that 20 million
companies would have to go the ebusiness way, to survive in the competitive
market.
The ebusiness needs of the enterprise demands technology that can offer high
performance, scalability and reliability. "Itanium architecture is the
answer to this," said Russell. "We focus on the needs of the specific
market segments and computing models, and deliver technology to match these
requirements," he added.
The key areas of focus was on the various technology innovations of Intel that
included the Hyper-Threading, an Intel technology that enabled multiprocessing
on a single chip and Banias, an Intel architecture for mobile computing with the
lowest power consumption. Infiband is yet another critical future
interoperability technology that is expected to make Intel-based servers more
reliable, higher performing and more easily scalable in the ebusiness computing
infrastructure.
