Intel announces winners of embedded challenge

BANGALORE, INDIA: Sanjay Bansal and team, has won the coveted Intel India Embedded Challenge Award for 2010, a unique initiative by Intel India in the area of embedded technology to award outstanding innovative ideas from  engineering graduates and technical professionals across India.

The contest which was announced last year was designed to create a platform for engineering, MBA students and technical professionals to nurture designing talent in India.

Speaking on the occasion, Aravind Limbavali, honorable minister for higher education, Government of Karnataka, said “As a formidable repository of technical talent, India has steadily and firmly moved to the forefront of technology that in turn helps in fostering a knowledge based economy. Companies like Intel with their proven technological skills have played a big role in this endeavor.”

“I am very happy with our association with Intel India on ‘Embedded Challenge Awards’ which promotes talent and fosters innovation amongst engineering graduates and technical professionals all across India in the space of embedded technology.” he further added.

Rahul Bedi Director, corporate affairs, Intel South Asia said, “As a global technology company, Intel is proud of the work that we do to help shape the global youth community for the future technology revolution. This contest aims to encourage ideation and innovation in the areas of embedded technology among engineering students and technical professionals of the country.”

Following an open and competitive process that reviewed more than 2170 participants from across the country, Intel short listed 455 teams and individuals based on their innovative ideas in embedded technology. The expert panel then short listed 36 team(105 participants) submissions for the prototype phase of the contest.

Intel India Embedded Challenge 2010 Grand winner Sanjay Bansal and team (TractRobot) from Delhi, received a prize of Rs 10 lakhs.

In the students category, Avinash Siravuru and team (Speed Detector) from Vallore Institue of Technology, the 1st runners up of the contest received rupees one lakh followed by Satyajeet Shinde (Smart Braille Reader), Army student of technology Pune and Arnold Pereira (Automobile Environ System) and team from Mumbai, the 2nd runners up who got rupees fifty thousand and twenty five thousand respectively.

In the professional category, “Cloud Book” & “Tabloid” were recognized for the special awards.
