New Update
Instagram is shutting down its global community division

Instagram is testing new features including Regram button and GIF search for Stories, according to The Next Web. TNW also detailed a number of other new features Instagram appears to be testing including a close friends list to share with only a small group of people, an automatic archiving option for all your stories, hashtag and emoji search options, and the ability to follow hashtags to get top posts and stories on a particular trend

The native Regram button is finally at work and may make its way very soon. This is one of many features that users have been waiting for some time now. Regram is accessible as an icon below posts that shows up on your timeline, and as the name suggests, tapping this will re-share that photo or video through your own account – think retweeting a tweet on Twitter.

This is something that's been embarrassingly absent from Instagram for far too long, and while third-party solutions do exist for similar functionality, it's exciting to finally have something like this built into the app itself.

A native regram button would also remove the need to use third-party apps like Repost for Instagram and Regrann, which may be why Instagram is staying silent on the subject for now.

Also, the company is testing the option to search and add Gifs to your Story. Swiping to the GIFs panel will showcase ones that are currently trending, and a search bar near the top left lets you narrow down what you're looking for.

Some other features that the company is testing are Closest Friends list that lets users share select posts with just a core group of people, a top emoji and top hashtag search option, the ability to pin a thread in direct messages and an option to program emoji shortcuts for words.
