The latest to leave the IT major is Shaji Farooq, senior vice-president and head of Financial Services (Consulting — Americas), who has been helming the division for about 11 years. According to his professional social media account, he was responsible for all client-facing activities, delivery, execution and operations of this business unit.
At this point, it is being speculated that he has switched to market competitor Wipro Technologies, and some media reports suggest that he would retain his SVP position at Wipro, as he gets entrusted with the advanced technology service line and go-to-market transformation businesses, that would be overseen by Wipro CEO TK Kurien.
Prior to his stint with Infosys, Farooq was a senior principal at Diamond Management & Technology Consultants for nearly four years and senior Engineering Manager at IBM for more than 10 years in a career spanning nearly 25 years.
As a part of its restructuring strategy, the Bangalore-based company has introduced Infosys 3.0, while it still believes that human resources are its most valuable asset.
Of late, the once IT bellwether has struggled to meet quarterly estimates and has lowered its guidance for this financial year down to five per cent, as against the NASSCOM projection of 11-14 per cent for the entire industry.
