BANGALORE, INDIA: With the existing board left with final four years in office before they retire, the HR department at Infosys is all set with the next generation of leaders to take on new role.
Speaking to CIOL during an interview, Nandita Gurjar, SVP and global HRD head, Infosys Technologies said the IT giant strongly believes in succession planning, as most of the board members would retire in 2014.
“We have already got the next level of executive council in place. We started building this level two years ago in 2008. They are already being groomed for the next role almost six years before taking up the position.”
The present members of the executive council are: B. G. Srinivas, senior vice president, manufacturing; product engineering; product lifecycle and engineering solutions; Ashok Vemuri, senior vice president and global head, banking and capital markets, strategic global sourcing; Subhash Dhar, senior vice president and head, global sales, alliances and marketing also head, communications, media and entertainment and Chandra Shekar Kakal, senior vice president and global head, enterprise solutions.
She added, “So at Infosys, we have four level of strong leadership. Below the leading board, we have executive council followed by unit head/geography/vertical geography head; below them are the strategic business head and lastly the delivery head. Apart from the senior management, every team at Infosys has got their respective leader at the junior level.”
Infosys also runs a Leadership Institute that initiates new recruits into Infosys with a rigorous foundation program and provides round-the-year training for managers. The Institute offers 16 instructor-led training programs and 59 e-learning programs.
