Infineon inks pact with L&T Infotech

MUNICH, GERMANY: German semiconductor manufacturers Infineon Technologies AG today announced a multi-year, multi-million dollar contract with Indian IT services and business solutions provider Larsen & Toubro Infotech Limited (L&T Infotech).

L&T Infotech will operate, maintain and develop SAP solutions within Infineon's enterprise landscape and provide these services out of Germany, Singapore and India, said a press release .

L&T Infotech said it would leverage its long-standing experience in Global SAP Support, its technology capabilities and knowledge of semiconductor and hi-tech industries to optimize Infineon’s IT operations, enhance operational efficiency and support Infineon's IT technology roadmap.

“This engagement reaffirms our commitment to building lasting business partnerships with our clients. L&T Infotech is strongly building its presence in Europe, and Germany in particular,” said Sudip Banerjee, chief executive officer, L&T Infotech.

“We will help Infineon optimize their operations to achieve their business objectives of meeting the three central needs of the modern society – energy efficiency, communications and security,” he added.

According to Infineon CIO Michael Schmelmer, “This engagement with L&T Infotech provides a cornerstone of our sourcing strategy and another important step on our path to constantly optimize our TCO (Total Cost of Ownership).”

Dieter Stengl, vice president, IT Enterprise Application Platform at Infineon, added that many key business processes of Infineon are run on SAP.

“Hence the related IT services must assure high-quality operations, competent, fast and effective support for our users as well as speed and flexibility to react on changing demands of the Infineon business. We are convinced that L&T Infotech is the right partner to make this new engagement a sustainable benefit for Infineon,” he said.
