Mathias said that the company would be carrying out survey for the Indian market and would go ahead with the indigenous designs. “We will be looking at designing the phones based on the art and architecture of country. For this we would like to go ahead after acquiring proper licenses for each product.”

In order to work on the indigenous project, the design department would be approaching the design center of Indian Institute of Technology. It may be mentioned here that the handset manufacturer had earlier approached the IIT Delhi, design department on the bringing in indigenous taste to its handset collection.

Jeremy Dale, corporate vice president, Global Marketing, Motorola said that the company is optimistic about the RAZR2 V8 handset model. He said that it is likely to make inroad in to the market. “Our SLVR models were a huge success and the most selling one is the Moto RAZR V3. We have sold more than 100 million units globally of this handset model. It surpassed our target mark we had set for this handset. Now we are betting on RAZR2 V8.”

The handset manufacturer is hopeful that the new handset launched a couple of days back will make inroads in to the mobile handset market globally.

Targeting one of the high growth mobile markets globally, the manufacturers are trying hard to attract consumers with by bringing innovation in the handsets. With the handset manufacturer losing its No.2 slot in the handset market is betting high on the Indian market with the launch of new handsets.
