Indices open positive

P>MUMBAI: Indices opened on a positive note today, with the BSE`s 30-share Sensex gaining 28.99 points, or 0.62 per cent, to 4,736.79.

Banking shares attracted buying in opening trades at the BSE. The BSE BANKEX was quoting at 2,352.46, up 21.09 points, or 0.90 per cent.

The BSE IT Index rose 18.73 points, or 1.23 per cent, to 1,546.39.

The NSE`s 50-share S&P CNX Nifty was quoting at 1494.75, up 13.05 points, or 0.88 per cent.
