KOLKATA: Indiatimes.com, an Indian portal and Kolkata based Big Leap Academy
have announced a tie-up to launch an IT Zindabad Scholarship for IT education.
India's largest IT scholarship, IT Zindabad is worth Rs 69.86 crore, includes
100 full scholarships, 20,000 half scholarships and 20,000 quarter scholarships.
This scholarship comes at a time soon after the 10+2 and degree examinations and
opens the doors for many students who would like to pursue a career in IT. Big
Leap, formerly El Net-3, has courses conducted and designed jointly with
IIT-Kharagpur.
Students, who have completed their twelfth examination, can opt for
"Technocrat" course that comprises of an Introduction to Computer
Systems, UNIX Operating System, Programming in C & Data Structure, Object
Oriented Programming with C++, Programming in Java, Java Database Connectivity
(JDBC), Oracle 8i and Visual Basic. Graduates in any stream, 3rd year
engineering degree students or 3 year engineering diploma holders from any AICTE
approved polytechnic can opt for "Developer" course comprising C, Data
Structure and Unix, OOP with C++, TCP I/P Programming, RDBMS Design and Oracle.
The scholarship will be awarded based on a 2-hour entrance test and
interview. Students can either collect their entry forms from any of the 100 Big
Leap centers in 31 cities in India or they can simply download the form from
Indiatimes.com. The completed entry forms need to be submitted at any Big Leap
center along with required documents by the 27th July 2001. The entrance exam
will be held on the 29th July 2001
