BANGALORE, INDIA: In three years, India will have its own operating system (OS) and none other than the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) is spearheading the ambitious project.
The DRDO, along with other premier institutes, is developing India's own OS, DRDO director-general V.K. Saraswat was quoted saying by PTI.
"One of the major elements of cyber security is having our own operating system, because today we are dependent on all OS, which are imported, whether it is based on Windows or Linux, which is likely to be having malicious worms and hence, it is essential that we have our own OS."
Apparently, 150 engineers were working across the country on creating Indian OS.
