NEW DELHI, INDIA: The total broadband subscriber base in India has increased from 8.75 million in March-2010 to nine million in April-2010, there by showing a growth of 2.80 percent, says Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI).
Further TRAI adds that the number of telephone subscribers in India increased to 638.05 million at the end of April-2010, from 621.28 million in March-2010, thereby registering a growth rate of 2.70 percent.

With this, the overall tele-density in India reaches 54.10.
Wireless subscriber base increased from 584.32 million in March-2010 to 601.22 million at the end of April-2010 registering a growth of 2.89 percent. Wireless tele-density stands at 50.98.
Wireline subscriber base declined from 36.96 million in March-2010 to 36.83 million at the end of April-2010.
BSNL/MTNL, two PSU operators hold 84.64 percent of the wireline market share. Overall Wireline teledensity is 3.12.
