Indian tech veterans lead Yahoo SW team

BANGALORE: Yahoo! Software Development India Pvt. Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of Yahoo! Inc., a leading global Internet communications, commerce and media company today announced the appointment of Srinivasan Seshadri (Sesh) and Prasad Ram as Chief Technology Officers.

The newly appointed CTOs will be responsible for providing strategic direction to the Research and Development work at Yahoo! Software Development Centre in Bangalore.

Both Seshadri and Ram are vastly experienced individuals in the field of research. The Yahoo development center in Bangalore will be focused on developing innovative technology solutions and products in the areas of data mining, search, e-commerce, mail, social networking and core technology platforms.

Commenting on the appointment of Seshadri and Ram as CTOs, Venkat Panchapakesan CEO, Yahoo! Software Development India Pvt. Ltd said, "I am delighted to announce the appointment of the CTOs to Yahoo's software development operations in India.

This need can only be fulfilled by people of high calibre and experience in the field of R&D facilitating Yahoo! Software India's role as key provider of innovative technology solutions to Yahoo! Inc. and its global subsidiaries" he added.

Srinivasan Seshadri comes to Yahoo with several years of experience in Research and Development. He is also known for his ability in bringing R&D to the market. He was the co-founder of Strand Genomics, a life science informatics company. He started his career as a member of faculty at the Computer Science department of Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai and later moved to Bell Laboratories, Lucent Technologies where he was the CTO of the Network Management Unit. He holds a Masters degree and a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Wisconsin, Madison and holds a B Tech degree from the Indian Institute of Technology, Chennai.



Prasad Ram previously was the CTO at Dynamx Technology Inc. where he was instrumental in developing dynamic web services composition technology. Prior to this he was the General Manager, Xerox Rights Management - now ContentGuard Inc., a joint venture between Microsoft and Xerox. Ram has several patents pending in the field of distributed systems technologies during his tenure as researcher at Xerox PARC and RAND Corporation. He holds a B Tech in Computer Science from the Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai and a Masters and PhD in Computer Science from University of California, Los Angeles.
