8-year-old Indian stakes claim to youngest Web site developer

NEW DELHI: An 8-year-old boy of Indian origin has developed and hosted a Web site and staked claim to an entry in the Guinness book of world record. Thahzeeb Zubair, a student of grade 4 in Abu Dhabi has independently developed and hosted his own Web site www.cyberharddisk.com. The site was designed and hosted in October 2001 (when he was 8 years old and was studying in Grade 3). Thahzeeb hails from Pookkom in Kannur District in the south Indian state of Kerala. Since then he has designed and hosted two more sites for his friends (www.pleaselogon.com/chinku.htm and www.cyberharddisk.com/izu/izu.htm). Now he and his younger brother are jointly developing another site www.letmousewalk.com.



The site was independently developed and hosted by Thahzeeb using front page2000, macromedia flash, Adobe Photoshop, Ulead Photoimpact, anfy JAVA and Gif animator. He has hosted the said site using FTP.



The site has free tutorials on different software and operating system. The site also has links to science movies through brainpop.com. Information about the weather can also be found on the site. The site also contains information about Thahzeeb and a photo gallery.



Thahzeeb has been using the computer since he was five years old. Now he is proficient in MS excel, MS word, MS access, MS power point, Internet explorer, Windows, macromedia flash, adobe Photoshop, ulead photoimpact, gif animator, and Outlook Express for sending/receiving email with attachment, domain registration, hosting a Web site, etc. He can create table and make forms and queries in MS Access. He can make a presentation in MS Powerpoint with Voice Narration or background music and animations. He also constructs animations with multiple images using GIF Animator & Macromedia Flash. He is also proficient in installing any software into computer including operating systems on new computers. He has never attended any computer institute for any kind of computer training and has learnt all these himself and by watching his father working on the computer.



Thahzeeb's aim is to see the inclusion of his name in Guinness Book of World Record as "Youngest Webmaster" in the world who designed and hosted a website independently using Macromedia FLASH and Photoshop. He said that his interest in computers started at the age of five after watching his father working on computers. According to his father, the current Guinness book record holder is an 11 year old Canadian and Thahzeeb is only 8 year and they are planning to claim the inclusion of his name into the world record book.



Thahzeeb's future plans include being a software engineer. He is also planning to learn Visual Basic (MCP) and MCSE soon. His hobbies include working on computer, reading, painting, music, cinematic dance and outdoor games etc.



Thahzeeb's father K.P. Zubair is a Business Analyst in Bainounah Power Company, a subsidiary company of Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity Authority and his mother is a housewife. He has a younger brother named Ashyam Zubair who is six years old and is studying in Grade 1.
