Indian SMEs trust cloud: Microsoft study

NEW DELHI, INDIA: A Microsoft study revealed that Indian small and medium enterprises (SMEs) have huge trust in cloud security, as most of them said that have experienced significantly higher levels of security since migrating to the cloud.

The study, conducted in five geographies including India, further said SMEs are gaining huge IT security benefits from the cloud.

As much as 64 per cent of Indian companies have experienced higher levels of security, while 52 per cent said they spend less time worrying about the threat of cyber attacks.

The survey showed that 61 per cent of SMEs in India that use the cloud said they were able to employ more staff in roles that directly benefit sales or business growth; 63 per cent invest in more product development or innovation; and 62 per cent experienced improved agility in being to increase and decrease IT capacity when needed.

Over half of those surveyed (64 per cent) said that the cloud enabled them to add new products and services that benefit their business more quickly and securely. Fifty two per cent said the cloud made it easier for them to scale their business to explore new markets.

The study, commissioned by Microsoft and conducted by research company comScore, polled companies with between 100 and 250 computers PCs in the US, India, Singapore, Malaysia, and Hong Kong.
