Indian lady bags US entrepreneurship award

BANGALORE: Veena Gundavelli, founder and chief strategic officer of Emagia was today awarded the "Trailblazer of the Year 2002" award, by the Forum for Women Entrepreneurs (FEW), United States. Veena is a non-resident Indian hailing from the city of Hyderabad.



The FWE based in the US is the premier entrepreneurial service organization for women involved in building high-growth technology companies. FWEs mission is to accelerate women's opportunities to start, build and invest in market-leading companies. Veena received this prestigious award today in recognition of her entrepreneurial skills and business leadership in founding Emagia, a leading cash flow management company. The company is backed by investments from WestBridge Capital Partners and other leading venture capitalists.



Leading US businesswomen such as Carol Bartz, CEO of AutoDesk, Peggy Taylor, President of Peoplesoft Investments are few of the recipients of such awards from FWE in the past.



Born and raised in Hyderabad, Veena founded Emagia in 1998 and successfully shaped it to an established growth-oriented company. She has raised over $15M in financing till date from venture capitalists, angel and corporate investors. Under her leadership and vision, the company established itself as the leader in the Enterprise Cash Flow Management area with leading edge products and a marquee Fortune 100 and Global 2000 customer base. Emagia has its R&D center in Hyderabad employing over 50 people and has recently announced plans to expand its operations in India.



 



Prior to founding Emagia, Veena was a cofounder of Solix Technologies, a leading provider of enterprise application solutions, a company located in Hyderabad, India. Prior to Solix Technologies, Veena held several management and development roles at Cisco Systems, Canon Information systems and other companies. Veena holds a Masters degree in computer engineering from Santa Clara University and a Bachelors of Engineering in electronics and communications from Osmania University.
