Presently, Symantec India has a headcount of around 2700 and the company has plans to increase it by 2010. “We need talent in technology but the number of science and technology graduates generated in US are not enough,” Salem added, without revealing the total number of staff that will be hired in India during this year.

Moreover, during December quarter of 2009, the company earned around $793 million of which the Asia Pacific Japan grew by 5 per cent, while Americas declined by 2 per cent along with Europe Middle East Africa which also saw a dip of 9 per cent.

In reply to CyberMedia News about the disparity in company’s growth across geographies, Salem explained that the Asia Pacific Japan region has done well compared to other regions particularly like India and China.

“Both India and China are largest IT markets with high number of IT buyers. And also the BRIC countries are the fastest growing market for Symantec while India is the place for investment and growth,” Salem added.
