Speaking at the NASSCOM Product Conclave here today, Sharad Sharma, Chair, NASSCOM Product Conclave, said that India's products journey missed two major phases in the past, namely that of telecom handset and Web 2.0, but looking at the enthusiasm and the level of maturity, India is most likely to leverage on cloud.

He said, “There have been a few disruptions in the products market in the past, like the telecom product and the Web 2.0, but Indian companies missed that opportunities due to lack of capital, the talent and many other reasons. But the cloud wave would help the Indian companies to get back to competition and bridge the gap between the demand from the small and medium enterprises.”

NASSCOM today showcased ten product startups that are part of the Indian Software Development revolution. He said, “The software product industry is in the midst of a wave of business model innovation. The products ecosystem in the country is maturing and a few years down the line, India would be called as the country of product start-ups.”

In order to facilitate the eco-system, the Emerge Co-creator platform of NASSCOM is match-making between users (large customer/ MNC), channels (system integrators), technology vendors (IT product companies and start-ups) as well as VC.
