E-EDGE can be another technology which has the potential to change the user paradigm if it gets the market support. The "Evolved" enhancement of today's widespread EDGE mobile networks could be generating nearly $3.7 billion in CAPEX for cellular base station upgrades in 2015, if operators and handset makers adopt the technology, according to a report by ABI Research.
Evolved EDGE or EDGE II, which is a standard following the GSM/GPRS/EDGE standard family, is said to be spectrally efficient.
