Increase in data usage reveals growth of digital books

NEW DELHI, INDIA: eBook and eMagazine application company, Rockstand announced that it has recently crossed the data usage of 1 TB per day (Terabyte and 1 TB is equivalent 1,024 Gigabytes).

The increase in data usage showcase the growing popularity of reading digital book which has crossed the data usage by games or songs download, said a press release.

According to Rockstand, on an average one user's content consumption per user per day 5-8 books/magazines and the average content downloaded per user is 40 to 60 MB.

Rishi Mohan Jha, head at Rockstand Digital Pvt. Limited, said: "We are amazed to see this kind of data usage. From the time since India got into era of digitization, games and songs have dominated digital space and enjoyed uninterrupted reign of data usage in country. Now it's time for eBooks and eMagazines to rule digital space in India."

Jha foresee great opportunities in regional eBooks and eMagazine. "We are planning to bring exclusive and exciting content for our readers," he added.

Approximately 70 per cent of the users of Rockstand are comfortable in using their mobile data for the application. This indicate that today's consumer is open for reading applications and didn't shy away in using applications which are consuming his /her data, added the release.

The company is working on a mobile app, where users can pay through their mobile balance.
