The report stated that the center is being developed together by Zhangjiang Group and IMEC, and the official opening is due on Tuesday at an event being held in conjunction with the Shanghai World Expo.

Zhangjiang is situated in the Pudong region of Shanghai, where IMEC already has an office. IMEC is directly associated with foundry Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. Ltd which had an office previously in Hsinchu, Taiwan since the year 2008.

"Following 10 years of business in China, IMEC aims to increase its teamwork with Chinese companies and institutes by formally establishing IMEC China," the report quotes a statement from IMEC as saying.
