NEW DELHI: London-based Chief of Dutch subsidiary of Indian banking software major i-Flex, Senthil Kumar was discharged today. Confirming the report Deepak Ghaisas, i-Flex solutions CFO and CEO of India operations said that they were still waiting to hear from their lawyers to figure out if there was any fine print and the exact grounds on which the case was dismissed. "What we know at the moment is that the extradition case has been thrown out in the UK courts," Ghaisas said.

Kumar was detained in London on March 26, 2003 at the behest of the Netherlands government, which wanted him extradited for investigation into charges of visa irregularities. Another 12 of the company’s Indian employees in Netherlands were given a week to leave the country.

While Kumar was accused of involvement in providing false references for a number of the company employees in the Netherlands, i-flex all along maintained that the visa documents of all the employees in Amsterdam were in order. They were on business visa while their work permits were being processed. This was the third instance in recent times wherein an Indian IT company has faced trouble with authorities abroad.
