ICICI Infotech launches ERP for sugar sector

BANGALORE: ICICI Infotech has launched Orion@Sugars, an ERP exclusively for the sugar industry. It has also won its first order for the same in Bangalore, implementing it in Sri Chamundeshwari Sugars.



The Sugar industry is the latest vertical the company has launched a product for and has announced that it will soon be launching Orion product for educational institutions, oil and gas and textiles. It already has Orion ERP for contracting, distribution, manufacturing and retailing.



Sri Chamundeshwari Sugar was implementing an ERP from Evolus before switching to ICICI Infotech’s Orion@Sugars, after Evolus closed down half way during the implementation. The total project of setting up an end-to-end solutions at the head quarters in Bangalore and factory in a remote location is estimated to be in the range of Rs 60 to 70 lakh. The ERP is expected to go live from next month at the site.



Sri Chamundeshwari Sugars Managing Director M Srinivasan, said, "We felt the need to invest in an enterprise solution which would provide their company with operational efficiency, accountability, automated reporting , effective management of systems etc and we found that Orion met our required needs."



Orion@sugars is an end-to-end ERP solution enabling a sugar factory to handle the entire Sugarcane Manufacturing through Sugar Purchase and Process Control till the sugar sales including Cogeneration and Distillery Management. ICICI’s Orion solution has recently been enhanced to provide Customer Relationship Management features over the Web and in turn providing ERP II.



ICICI Infotech Managing Director and CEO V Srinivasan said, "Orion solution was specially suited for the Indian market and would prove very beneficial to the Indian industries. With the addition of the SCM and CRM modules, Orion has moved into the ERPII sphere, providing a comprehensive enterprise platform, which is cost effective and multifunctional as it is tailored to specific verticals."
