Eastern Software Systems (ESS) has

announced that IBP Caltex has adopted its Makess ERP software (HR and payroll modules).

IBP Caltex is a joint venture between IBP and Caltex (a US oil MNC). IBP Caltex markets

the Caltex bran of lubricants through a network of retailers and independent distributors.

It also supplies international marine lubricants to Chevron and Texaco customers.

The company is currently using an ERP package called

Solomon IV, which doesn't have a HR module for the Indian environment. At present, IBP

Caltex is using Microsoft Word and Excel for keeping various HR records and word

processing for calculating salaries.

Said Manjit Singh Lakhmana, National Manager (HR and

Administration) Caltex, "We have opted for Makess HR and payroll to enhance the

productivity of individual employees and generate different forms of reports by query

commands and maintain a very accurate/updated and reliable database for the HRD

administration department." Makess HR and payroll covers all aspects of HR and

personnel management including manpower planning, recruitment, induction, all aspects of

managing an employee while he is in the service of the organization including issues such

as appraisal, increments, transfers, promotions, payroll, etc. It also takes care of

Indian statutory and legal requirements such as TDS, tax registers, provident fund,

ESI,

bonus, etc. The payroll system also integrates with any standard attendance monitoring

system.
