IBM to provide SAP solution to STAR India

BANGALORE, INDIA: IT major IBM today announced an agreement with STAR India, a wholly owned subsidiary of STAR, the media and Asian entertainment company, to implement SAP ECC 6.0 application encompassing all major business processes.

The deal will increase process efficiency, enabling STAR India to enhance customer experience and drive greater control over net margin, said a press release.

Commenting on the agreement, Sanjay Jain, chief financial officer, STAR India said, “In addition to IBM’s strong credentials, the team showcased excellent knowledge of our domain and was able to put us at ease from day one.”

He said that it is imperative to be flexible and agile to the changing needs of the market place in order to provide the best customer service.

“The SAP solution, implemented by IBM, will allow us to do that,” he added.

IBM said the deal with Star India was signed in February 2009.

“We are delighted to have made inroads into the media and entertainment space in India,” said Sandip Patel, managing partner, Global Business Services, IBM India/ South Asia.

“We strongly feel that this is a market with a lot of potential, although it is also one of the most competitive industries in the world,” he added.

IBM said its Global Services works closely with over 2,200 organizations in India, spanning across varied industries, providing them diverse spectrum of IT services.
