IBM announces a range of new Lotus Software

NEW DELHI: IBM has announced a range of new Lotus Software aimed at helping

businesses improve human productivity through collaboration and leveraging

knowledge while embracing the future of open standards.

The slew of announcements that were made are:

The adoption of Java 2 Enterprise Edition (J2EE) 1.3 standard by Lotus

Software. This will give its present and future customers full access and choice

in standardizing on available platforms, offering customers, developers,

business partners, IT professionals and others benefits such as increased

flexibility, dynamic adaptability and diminished costs of both interoperability

and solution total cost of ownership.

Plans to introduce new licensing, deployment and customization services for

IBM Lotus Sametime. Such new services include hosted delivery of these

capabilities and a range of customization options which will provide customers

with the compelling benefits of e-meeting technology combined with the

purchasing and deployment flexibility that meets their business goals.

Upcoming release of the new IBM Lotus Notes and Lotus Domino 6 which will

contribute to a lower total cost of ownership through increased end-user

capabilities, greater application development features and administration

functions. In addition, IBM will soon offer innovative health management and

planning toolset from Tivoli Software for Lotus Domino 6. This toolset forms the

basis for powerful predictive analysis and intelligent server health check

functionality, eliminating the guesswork often associated with server management

and raising productivity.

A set of fully integrated e-learning modules from IBM Mindspan Solutions that

will allow organizations to expand their e-learning capabilities based on

evolving business needs. These modules will include a learning management system

(LMS) and 'live' virtual classroom, and will allow for delivery and tracking of

Web-based content. These modules provide immediate knowledge transfer and

enterprise human capital management capabilities in addition to supporting a

blended learning experience.
