The reason for the raid is not clear so far. When contacted, Oracle spokesperson said she would not comment on any speculation.

Post the acquisition, Sun has been facing many challenges, which include quitting of many top officials.

Scott McNealy, co-founder; Jonathan Schwartz, CEO; Lew Tucker, chief technology officer for Sun's relatively new cloud computing group; Bhaskar Pramanik, vice president (volume business); Anil Valluri, MD Sun India; and KP Unnikrishnan, the regional marketing director were some senior people who led an exodus from Sun in the recent past.

When Oracle signed a definitive agreement to buy Sun in April, 2009, there were lots of talks around it, with some saying Oracle CEO Larry Ellison is one of a few industry figures who could compete with Bill Gates.

The acquisition, which combined best-in-class enterprise software and mission-critical computing systems, was not without its own controversies. The issue of MySQL database in terms of competition had Oracle walking up and down the European regulators' office many times.

CIOL made repeated attempts to contact the Director General of Income Tax (Inv), but he was not available till the time this article has been published. However, a source from the office said that he wouldn't be able to talk about the matter as it is very 'sensitive issue.'
