Hybrid cloud to create jobs: NetApp

NEW DELHI, INDIA: NetApp, one of the leading developers of data management solutions, believes that with the adoption of cloud portfolio, new services would emerge that could bring in new job opportunities.

The storage major feels that telcos are eyeing at cloud computing as one of the key growth drivers and are investing in it.

Speaking to CIOL, NetApp India Director for Telco and Cloud Business Rajesh Awasthi said that challenging economic times are compelling businesses to achieve greater levels of operational efficiency and flexibility.

"For most of the telcos, cloud computing is an area for B2B growth. Currently, most of them are getting into infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) and increasing skills in data centre practice," he said.

In accordance with trends, Awasthi said that telcos are assuring customers on security concerns by putting processes and deploying secure multi-tenant infrastructure utilizing NetApp technology like MultiStore and FlexShare in a unified storage environment.

"With the implementation of cloud computing, he added, new service opportunities would come in setting up hybrid cloud infrastructure. "We would need more skilled people for automation of the processes and IT service management," added Awasthi.

The recent industry estimates also affirmed that cloud technologies would usher new job creations. Research firm IDC said that cloud computing will generate close to 15 million new jobs opportunities worldwide by 2015, including 2 million in India.
