"India is a large and fast-growing market. It is a very strategic market for Huawei Symantec, however, our numbers are not enough here," Chen Lei (Leon), Huawei Symantec's country manager India told CyberMedia News in Mumbai.

"We want to increase our revenues by 50 per cent and double our target for the next year," Lei said.

Huawei Symantec is a joint venture between Huawei and Symantec formed in 2008. It entered Indian market in 2009 and primarily focuses on enterprise customers in the telecom, IT/ITeS, government, BFSI and media verticals.

In the Indian market, the company has 15 large enterprise customers and over 100 small and medium enterprise (SME) customers.

According to Lei, the company's business in India is largely driven by the telecom sector, which helps generate over $5 million annually. While the company provides network security and storage appliance solutions globally, Lei informed that in India the demand of storage is higher than security.

In India, about 65 per cent demands come from the storage space, while 35 per cent demands are from the security side.

"India has a huge security and storage market, but the challenge is how to increase the growth. Keeping in view the market potential, we plan to increase our staff by 50 per cent by 2012. It will include sales, technical and support staff members," Lei said.

Currently, the company has 20 employees in India and its business is driven through channel partners.
