Huawei gets SEI CMMi Level 5 certification

NEW DELHI, INDIA: Huawei Technologies India Pvt. Ltd. , a provider in telecommunication services, announced on Thursday the achievement of SEI CMMi Ver 1.2 Level 5 certification.

This certification can boost customer confidence in HTIPL’s delivery and quality capabilities, said press release.

The appraisal was conducted by KPMG in accordance with the SCAMPI Methodology, and HTIPL has been assessed at the Maturity Level-5 of the Software Engineering Institute, Carnegie Mellon University, USA, and Capability Maturity Model Integrated CMMi Ver 1.2 - for the products, platforms, projects covering software engineering, and product development in the application and services business line of the Indian R&D center.

It has deployed processes for managing the telecom and networking software development, achieving CMM Level 4 in 2001, CMM Level 5 in 2003, and CMMi Level 5 Ver 1.1 in 2005, said the release.

K K Raman, lead assessor and executive director of KPMG stated, “Huawei Technologies India has successfully demonstrated their capability to operate at higher levels of software development maturity as seen in the Business Line assessed.”

He added that the business line has been assessed for conformance to all the process areas up to maturity level-5 of the CMMI DEV Model based on the SCAMPI assessment.

Justin Chen, chief operating officer of Huawei Technologies India believes the certification could boost customer confidence in HTIPL’s delivery and quality capabilities.

“CMMI is one of the most suitable models for software product development and is derived from proven industry good practices. We have progressively built and assessed our Quality System and its capability to manage the development, technical support and maintenance of products and solutions using CMMI model, and we will constantly enhance our system, providing vast benefits to the customer, ”added Chen.
