HONG KONG, CHINA: Recent HTC products and campaigns have won critical acclaim from technology websites worldwide. Through the concerted effort of HTC, distributors, and third-party certification body TUV Rheinland, HTC One has become the world's first mobile phone to meet comprehensive international standards for carbon footprint and life-cycle assessment, including ISO/TS 14067:2013, PAS 2050:2011, ISO 14040:2006, and ISO 14044:2006.

In doing so, HTC aims to analyze the impact and effect on climate change of HTC's mobile phones at different stages: raw material mining, product manufacture, delivery, consumer use, and disposal. Through the verification of the leading European certification body, TUV Rheinland, HTC hopes that the verification certificate and label can help European and U.S. consumers realize that in addition to a quality product and user experience, HTC products meet the demands for environmental protection of EU consumers.

ISO/TS 14067:2013 is the latest product-footprint standard announced by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), published this May. This is a technical specification (TS) setting out methods for quantifying carbon emissions through a product's life cycle, starting from design and production, along with communication requirements and guidelines. As this TS can also be applied to quantifying the CFP (carbon footprint of a product) of other products and services, it has since become a normative reference for CFP quantification and communication across the world.
