BANGALORE: Hewlett Packard India Software Operation (HPISO) has announced to
sponsor India’s 2nd Global IPv6 Summit from January 23-25, 2002 in Bangalore
organized by IPv6 Forum India. The three-day event is designed to deliver
information, ideas and strategies required for understanding as well as
implementation of the latest version of IP (IPv6).
Targeted at Internet Service Providers (ISPs), Internet Enabled Service
Providers (VASPs), mobile and cellular operators, software developers,
Independent Software Vendors (ISV) and networking product vendors, this summit
will provide an exclusive platform to developers and users on the IPv6.
IPv6 (Internet Protocol Version 6) is the next generation Internet technology
that gives enhanced address space and additional functionality like security,
privacy and quality of service (QoS) for Internet companies.
HPISO vice president R&D, Srivibhavan Balaram, said, "The theme of
the summit, Internet for the Millennium, matches with HPISO’s strategy of
promoting cutting edge technologies that support Internet business and
e-services. We hope that IPv6 will enable India to take a lead in the
development of next generation Internet technologies.

CS&E, Bits Pilani and many more. Key areas such as impact of IPv6 on
mobility, on corporates and next generation Internet will be discussed. A review
of IPv6 deployment, strategies with its relevance to India will be in the
offing. The focus will be on knowledge sharing.
This summit will officially launch the Indian IPv6 task force that will help
kick start regional IPv6 deployment efforts to help reach Internet to the common
man. In addition to the main summit, many parallel sessions are planned such as
the IPv6 Policy Roundtable, OneWorld Working Group Roundtable, IPv6 Interest
Group - 6IG Convention- IPv6 Students Meet, Business Case for IPv6; Roundtable
for CEO’s and senior decision makers, IPv6 technical and performance updates.
