HP to woo SMBs, public sector in India

BANGALORE: After attracting the Indian enterprise over the years, enterprise solutions major, Hewlett Packard, has professed its interest towards the Indian public sector and the small and medium businesses.

Amit Chatterjee, Country Sales Manager, Software Global Business Unit, Hewlett Packard India. Said, "In terms of market segments, we will now increasingly focus on the Public Sector & SMB segments in India because of their increased buying behavior and technology spends in addition to our continued focus on the Enterprise segment. Our channels will be a key to deliver on our aggressive SMB plans. We hope to mass recruit the Tier 2 channel partners of our channel members to help us increase our footprint in SMB Segment."

Adding to Chatterjee's statement, Peter Vander Fluitthe, Vice President, Software Sales, Software Global Business Unit, Hewlett-Packard Company, said, "HP's endeavor has been to enables IT organizations to automate the dynamic link between business and IT, integrating people, process and technology seamlessly to deliver and support IT as a portfolio of valued services. We are expanding our solutions portfolio so as to give our customers the choice of a complete portfolio of products, services and management solutions, that are delivered by the software business partner of their choice."



The $76.8 billion IT giant is also entering the booming Identity Management market, which will also have an impact in terms of new IM products and solutions being offered in India. Research firm IDC expects the identity management market to reach nearly $4 billion by 2007, up from approximately $600 million in 2002. The effective management of identity, access and accountability on multiple applications and connect points is not only an operations and security necessity, it also provides a distinct business advantage by enabling enterprises to more efficiently and reliably deliver products and services.

As part of the Identity Management and Change and Configuration management thrust, HP has announced the launch of two technologies in the HP OpenView software portfolio, HP OpenView Select Identity and HP OpenView Radia.

For the first time in India, HP plans to hold the Annual OpenView Customer Conclave 2004. This forum is expected to update customers on HP's new technology roadmaps and create a platform for the customers for sharing best practices and also introduce new products and upgrades of existing products.
