HP unveils range of personal printing solns

BANGALORE: Hewlett Packard (HP) launched 12 personal printing solutions meeting the various needs of the customers at home and office.

The new range of HP printers includes All-in-One (AIO) range which enables users to print, scan and copy true-to-life colour photos as well as laser quality documents. HP photosmart Express- a consumer friendly printer interface offers home consumers easy options to view, print, save and share photos across all photosmart printers and AIO printers. HP also introduced its first innovative touch activated 3.4 inch display panel on the photosmart D7368 photo printer for a kiosk-like printing experience at home.

Addressing the media at the launch, Vibhor Bansal, country category manager- personal printing products, imaging and printing group, HP, said the HP has a market share of 80 per cent in the Inkjet AIO segment in Q2, 2006 and 75 per cent market share in the single function Inkjet printer segment. The AIO market is expected to grow rapidly.

IDC predicts that the inkjet AIO market is expected to grow from 440,382 units in 2006 to 734,222 units by 2010.

“The need for photo printing is increasing with the growth of digital cameras and high end mobile phones. Our new photo printer line up enables fast and easy printing with features such as Photosmart Express software, bluetooth enabled printing and direct digital camera printing,” he added.

Commenting about the HP marketing strategy to strengthen the personal printing market, he said that the HP is targeting the SMB vertical segment such a jewelers, exporters, photographers, self employed professionals through focused market development programs by offering customized solutions for these segments.

HP is also targeting the school children to position HP AIO as the study partner. The pilot has been initiated in some schools in Delhi, to be followed in Bangalore and Mumbai.

The new printers are priced between Rs 2,999 and Rs 15,999. It is available across 400 HP experience zones and 1500 multi- brand retail outlets.
