Looking at how the PC market has dwindled over the past couple of years, it makes perfect sense for the company to look at different alternatives to make money but is smartphone and tablet space really their forte is something only time will tell.

The devices have been made keeping the Indian market in mind and the inclusion of dual-Slim slot and voice calling (on the Slate 7) clearly highlight the company's strategy. Just like Nokia's Asha 501, HP has used India as its platform to globally launch these Slate devices.

Slate 6 VoiceTab is more of a phablet in nature and comes with a HD display, running on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS, 1.2 GHz quad-core Marvell CPU which is a refreshing change from the Mediatek's and the Qualcomm's with 1 GB RAM. 5 MP rear and 2 MP front cameras make it relevant to the social-active smartphone users these days and all this is backed by a 3000 mAh battery. Slate 6 VoiceTab comes at Rs 22,999.
