HP launches portable CD-RW drive

NEW DELHI, August 24:

Hewlett-Packard announced its first drive for mobile professionals with

the launch of HP CD-Writer Plus M820. The new portable SCSI CD-RW drive

weighs less than a pound and fits in the palm of a hand.

HP CD-Writer Plus M820e, HP's smallest CD-Rewritable external drive,has

the smallest form factor of 12.7 cm by 16.51 cm by 2.54 cm and weighs less

than 0.45 kg. It has a SCSI interface and reads data up to 20x transfer

speeds and writes/rewrites data at up to 4X transfer speed. It is

portable.

The drive comes with Adaptek Direct CD and Adaptech Easy CD Creator

software. The software makes it easy to write data, photo, audio and video

files to a CD. "CDs are becoming a standard medium for storing,

backing up and sharing files," said Jerry Shea, General Manager for

CD-Rewritable products at HP. "We have seen a need for the portable

drive, one that is light enough and small enough for business travelers to

take with them. The new HP drive for mobile professionals fits into a

jacket pocket. CD-RW drive allows users to create, write, re-write, store,

manage and share data, music, photos and video and video on a CD just as

they would save information to a floppy." The HP CD-Writer Plus M820e

is priced at Rs 38,162 and is available in India immediately.
