HP brings Indigo Digital OffsetPress 5500

BANGALORE, INDIA: With an eye on the fast growing Indian digital print market, Hewlett-Packard (HP) today announced availability of Indigo digital OffsetPress 5500. HP has also made its first installation in the south India by installing a new digital OffsetPress at Kolor Kode, a print service provider (SPs), in Bangalore.

Indigo OffsetPress 5500, the new series in Indigo printers, offers unique digital printing advantages in terms of cost, quality and personalized printing. The new Indigo model also facilitates PSPs to enter the market or expand their current range of printing solutions.

According to Puneet Chadha, Director – Graphics Solutions Business Imaging & Printing Group, HP, the new series can make the one -to-one marketing a reality by offering personalized printing which has a proven increased response rate of mailers and campaigns. Apart, the new model can nearly eliminate printing waste.

The Indigo 5500 also enables printing of personalized image based products powered by digital press technology to create photobooks, photo calendars, photo calendars, photo post cards, stationery and a host of other applications.

Commenting on the printing market Chadha said only about 9 percent to the total printing works are being done digitally in India. However, India has emerged as one of the fastest growing printing markets with about 73 percent growth registered in 2008.

He said with the installation of Indigo 5500 in Bangalore, the total number of Indigo installations in India has gone up to 51 in India. Kayu Dhanbhoora, Director, Kolor Kode said the new installation was a prefect choice for smaller quantities, print-on-demand and tight deadlines. He said coupled with the spectrum of finishing solutions.
