HP to add 1500 SW professionals

BANGALORE: Hewlett Packard will be adding about 1,500 software professionals to its enterprise services solutions group in HP India Software Operations (ISO).

"The ramp up will happen by 2004-05. We are not adding significantly but will be slow and steady," said Zarir Batliwala, Head-HR, HP India. This group is headed by Subrahmanyam Vempati, Director, HP ISO.

The ISO is currently about 2000 people strong, including the application development group, which is headed by Padma Ravichander.

This group is in the process of being merged with Digital GlobalSoft, in which HP has 51 per cent stake. Post merger the stake is to rise up to 76 per cent.

HP in India employs about 8700 people in its various divisions. Its activities include, manufacturing, BPO services, software development and research and development apart from marketing and channel management. An additional 1200 people are employed through its partners.
