Honor View 10 with AI processor and Animoji feature launched

Huawei is back with a brand new flagship smartphone named Honor View 10 and with this new phone, the focus is on artificial intelligence (AI). The handset comes with a 5.99-inch 18:9 display screen, thin bezels, and an attractive design. The company claims that there are a host of new features on the phone that rely on AI.

The highlight of which is a fun 3D facial animation feature which is very similar to iPhone X's Animoji. In verisimilitude to the later it tracks your face and transposes that onto an animal character. The Honor View 10 price in India has not been revealed, although it was announced that the phone will be available in India from January 8.

In terms of specifications, the Honor View 10(also called as Honor V10) is powered by HiSilicon Kirin 970 SoC with four Cortex-A73 cores clocked at 2.36GHz, four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.8GHz, and an i7 coprocessor, coupled with 6GB of RAM. The phone sports a 5.99-inch Full HD+ IPS LCD FullView display with an aspect ratio of 18:9. Inbuilt storage on the phone is 128GB which can be expanded up to 256GB via a microSD card.

In terms of photography, the phone comprises, a dual camera setup at the back consisting a 16-megapixel RGB sensor and a 20-megapixel monochrome sensor with Dual LED flash. For selfie lovers, the phone packs a 13-megapixel front camera. Other features on the Honor View 10 include 4G VoLTE, dual-band (2.4GHz + 5GHz) Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v4.2, Infrared, GPS/ A-GPS, NFC, USB Type-C (2.0), and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The phone is available in two color variants- Navy blue, Midnight Black.

The smartphone is backed by a 3750 mAh battery that is rated to deliver up to 23 hours of talk-time on 3G, and 22 days of standby time. It is complete with 5V/ 4.5A fast charging support. The phone runs on EMUI 8.0 based on Android Oreo.

Coming to the AI related features, Honor is introducing Facial Unlock on the View 10 as well. The working of facial unlock system is very similar to what Apple does with the iPhone X. Honor View 10 will also rely on the 3D mapping of the face to unlock the phone, though the company has not added extra hardware on the front for this purpose. Just like the iPhone X, the View 10 has a 3D Facial Animation Feature that tracks your face and transposes that onto an animal character.

The Honor View 10 price has been set at EUR 499 (roughly Rs. 38,000) and GBP 449 (roughly Rs. 38,900). The smartphone will be made available in India, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Russia, the UK, and the United States on January 8.
